The Relais Villa Matilde is an 18th-century villa which was once a private residence and is a little gem nestling at the foot of the Alps. Located in the Piedmont countryside, which is famous for its gastronomic delights and its castles, the Relais is in Romano Canavese, an ancient rural town dominated by a tall belfry in the north-western part of Piedmont.
Guests are greeted by a large gate and then find themselves in a timeless dimension as they cross the parklands with its age-old trees and arrive at this gem of Italian hospitality.
The Villa has 20 rooms and suites as well as numerous salons, a library and smaller lounges. Each of the bedrooms is different, and they have wooden floors, painted ceilings and period furnishings as well as all modern comforts. The bathrooms have terrazzo flooring and large windows looking out over the garden. All the charm of a country resort is to be found in the elegant Le Scuderie gourmet restaurant which was once the old stables. The beautifully restored floor has retained all its original charm, and the old horse boxes are now charming dining alcoves. The Centro Mességué in the Relais Villa Matilde is an oasis of wellness and history offering guests a tranquil and comfortable ambience in which to relax and be pampered. For those who like to keep fit there is a fitness area with Technogym equipment, a sauna and a Turkish bath, a tennis court and a charming outdoor swimming pool which can be enjoyed during the warmer months of the year.
