Onward to the Cathedral with the famous Brunelleschi's Dome and the gold Paradise door of the Baptistry. From there we will continue to Piazza della Signoria, the political heart of Florence since the 1300's when Florence was considered the richest city in Europe. We are beckoned to Ponte Vecchio, the bridge which attracts so much curiosity not only for its unique charming appearance but also for the fabulous jewelry shops lining the medieval bridge. We will end up at Santa Croce Square, famous for its church where are the tombs of the most famous Florentine citizens such as Michelangelo Buonarroti, Galileo Galilei, Gioacchino Rossini and many others. A fternoon at leisure and lot of shopping at the St. Lorenzo's open Market. Free dinner.
Day 3. You will dedicate the morning to the ancient Florence.First you will reach the Torrigiani's gardens, the biggest within the city walls, a green area in the heart of Oltrarno and unique for its history, architecture and botanic varieties. Marchese Torrigiani will welcome us for a private visit. Then we will reach Palazzo Corsini that in 1649 Maria Maddalena Macchiavelli, the wife of the Marchese Filippo Corsini, purchased from the Grand Duke Ferdinando II de' Medici. The Palazzo is a late baroque building and this is obvious throughout, from the roofs decorated with statues and terracotta vases – a novelty for Renaissance Florence – and the main, U-shaped courtyard that opens towards the riverbank. The magnificent decorations, that were done between 1692 and 1700, belong to one of the finest and most intense moments in Florentine painting. Contessa Branca will welcome us for a unique experience. Rest of the day at leisure, free dinner.
Day 4. After a nice breakfast departure to the Chianti area, crossing the S222 you will venture to the worldwide famous wine country and admire marvellous landscapes. After the visit of the cellars you will have the opportunity to have a provate lunch with the wines produced.
